6th November 2012 - Countryfile. Harvey Robertson
President Robert Kirkhope welcomed a large turnout of
members and visitors before introducing the guest speaker of the day, Harvey
Robertson, a retired vet from Peebles. Harvey's presentation
consisted of a photographic journey through his beloved Tweeddale. He
chose to show his journey through several short films covering the flora and
fauna of the valleys, including the seasonal changes of the wider landscape.
Each film clip was accompanied by music to harmonise with each setting.
Harvey's skill and patience with the camera was evidenced in his ability to
capture the delicate markings on the forest's butterflies, showing examples of
the Painted lady, Orangetip and Common Blue, to name but a few.
Moreover, his knowledge of their migration and habitat gave added interest.
All the above was repeated in his photography and understanding of birds.
Scenes of a heron stalking and spearing a fish in the River Tweed, blackcock
jousting in the upper Manor Valley and brightly coloured finches feeding off
hawthorn and rowanberries were greatly appreciated. Bill Whiteside
gave a vote of thanks.
