21st November 2017 -  Secrets from the Film 'Casablanca'

The Club had , once again an excellent turnout of members for our meeting on the 21st. November . Our speaker on this day was Ian Garden , a French and German Honours graduate of St. Andrews University , who spent much of his life working in International and Corporate Banking . He opened the Banks first office in Germany in 1993 and it was during his three year posting to Frankfurt that he  really had an opportunity to indulge his interest in WW2 film propaganda .   On retiring from the Bank in 2008 , Ian became an author of several books . His talk to the club was on the famous War -Time film "Casablanca " , holding his Audience  spellbound on information totally unknown to them, highlighted by clips from the film . A most enjoyable speaker who had researched his subject .      V.O.T.   Beith Forrest.
