15th November 2011 - History of Wine Making, with Tasting.

Beith Forrest

The President in introducing our speaker Beith Forrest on November 15 and his subject The History of Wine Making plus Tastings, noted the nearly full turn out of the membership. Beith's talk took us from the earliest days of wine being used as a medicine, the smiles as we recalled the pleasures of Blue Nun to the opportunities today of being able to sample literally thousands of different wines. Our tasting selection covered a range of affordable wines interspersed with Beith's own stories of bargains unearthed at auction. Bill Allen gave a warm vote of thanks to Beith for a most interesting talk and for his excellent choice of wines for us to enjoy. The next meeting on Tuesday 6 December, starting at 10.30.am, will be our Open Meeting in Biggar Municipal Hall. We extend a warm welcome to both the ladies and gentlemen of the community to join us when we meet Biggar High School Senior Pupils, Young Persons Forum.
